Road To Bloodstock 2024: Disposable

Our regular run-down of as many of the Bloodstock bands as we can get to talk to us! Disposable play the New Blood stage on the Friday…

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are from Edinburgh in Scotland!

How long have you been playing together as a band?

We just celebrated our 15 year anniversary believe it or not. Way back when we were little high school boys. The current line up has been in place since 2017.

Where does the name of the band come from?

It’s just a cool word. It had Metallica connotations too, which appealed to a bunch of 15 and 14 year olds!

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

We’re a bit of a Plasticine band in the sense that we just mould ourselves to suit how we’re feeling. It’s all rooted in thrash but we tap into a lot of metal sub genres. We have three distinct voices in the band and all of us do quite a few vocal sections now which is a dynamic strength of the band I think!

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

We’re happiest in that place that’s right on the edge of chaos. We get ourselves to a point where 75% of the show is dialled in and the rest is completely down to chance. Having fun on stage is a big priority to us, so we just play shows with the intention to entertain, share a good time with people and show them what we do without worrying too much.

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?

I don’t actually think any of us have been to Bloodstock before! This seems like a great way to break us in!

Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?

We applied via email submission. Or begging letter is maybe more accurate!

Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?

It was first thing in the morning when we found out so I just thinking that it was a pretty sweet way to start a day. Then had fun banging the news in the band group chat and seeing everyone’s reactions when they woke up.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

We’ve plucked songs out of three categories really: our most reliable stuff, our gnarliest stuff, and our newest stuff. Either way it’s basically 30 minutes of fast, heavy goodness.

Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?

We feel bad for whoever is clashing with Hellripper. Truly goated band!

What are you working on at the moment?

We just finished recording our next album, which is being mixed now and coming out in November.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

I saw someone’s pony tail being ripped out in the pit once. That was pretty gnarly. I’m sure someone picked it up after the fact and it still had the hair band holding it together!

What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?

As a vocalist – water! Lots and lots of water!
