We’re closing in on Call of the Wild and we’re going to be back for a second year! So we’re getting to know as many of the bands set to play the Trailblazer Stage in 2025 that we can pin down. Crashed Out play the Saturday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from Tyne and Wear, North East UK.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
30 years! Ok, so Crashed Out formed in 1995 by Lee (guitar) when he was 15 years old. Spin (bass) has also been in the band since 1995. We had a line up change in 2000 and Lee’s brother (me – Chris) ed on vocals. We have had various drummers over the years but Chris, Lee and Spin have been together since 2000.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Lee took the band name from The Exploited song of the same name. Lee was bang into The Exploited at that time.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We are classed as a punk rock band, but we do have a very rock edge to our music. We have been described as the band that puts the rock into punk rock! I think that is kind of an accurate description of us.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
We are a very energetic band and a lot of our songs are singalongs – we encourage crowd participation. And we always give 110%.
Have you been to Call of the Wild before? What did you think?
We have never been to Call of the Wild but we have heard very good reports of it.
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Call of the Wild?
We’re buzzing we have been given a chance to play.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Our set list is full of absolute bangers. Simple as that – no fillers from us.
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
I hope we don’t clash with Lucifer Star Machine. We played with them in years ago and they are a great band.
What are you working on at the moment?
We have been very busy playing shows all over the UK and Europe. But we are still working on new material when we can. We have two new songs in the bag and more on the way
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
We have loads of mad stories, but one that has come to mind was when Decca our drummer at the time, decided he wanted to play naked at a festival in Spain we were playing at.
Anyway, he played the show naked – at the end he stood up on the drum riser waving to the crowd, he took a few steps back and disappeared. The stage was about 6ft high and in the middle of a massive venue and behind the stage was just a big black curtain not a wall. He fell off the back of the stage totally naked. When we got round the back he was very concussed and we had to carry him through the crowd (still no clothes on) to the artist area! That was absolutely crazy – he recovered after a half hour later and got drunk!
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Loads of water and we have a two pint beer rule before playing. But after we play it’s beer beer beer.
