We’re closing in on Call of the Wild and we’re going to be back for a second year! So we’re getting to know as many of the bands set to play the Trailblazer Stage in 2025 that we can pin down. Moskito make their return after last year for the VIP welcome party on the Thursday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Boston born and bred – strong in the arm, thick in the head.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Around 5 years together writing but we didn’t release music straight away.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Dez & Will were writing together before Moskito was a thing. Just basic tunes that no one will ever hear. Anyway we showed them to Jake in the car and he was basically crying, saying we need to make a band. As we were brainstorming band name ideas a little mosquito landed on the car window – to which Jakey said: “Here, boys… What about Moskito? But with a K cause we’re edgy?”

Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Five men leaving everything on stage. 90s synth style bass drops. Boy band-esque vocals with four singers at the front and multiple harmonies. Heavy stompy riffs. Crazy drummer with extra long hair being forced by the rest of the band to do at least 2 drum solos per set.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
We’ve been described as a five piece shouty boy band. Chaotic, bouncy, heavy. Not for the faint hearted.
Have you been to Call of the Wild before? What did you think?
Played the festival for the first time last year and we were blown away. Love everything about it.
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Call of the Wild?
Felt like we were coming back home.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Highly energetic, bring back the 90’s style synth and riffs. Interactive. Lots of banter.
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Royal Republic. [Me too! – Ross]
What are you working on at the moment?
Hmmmm… might be a secret. We’re planning something special on the day of our set.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Played a half pipe and got everyone skating during a breakdown. Which then followed in to a monstrous pit.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Buckfast.
