We’re closing in on Call of the Wild and we’re going to be back for a second year! So we’re getting to know as many of the bands set to play the Trailblazer Stage in 2025 that we can pin down. Retsecrows play the Saturday.
We’re from Wyre Forest in Worcestershire. Kidderminster is our base which has an amazing music history and there are some great new young bands coming from over there so keep an eye out.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Since July 2022! First gig was a festival that September, and we’ve been gigging hard ever since.
Where does the name of the band come from?
It’s Worcester spelled backwards, with an added s for the four of us – Retsecrows.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
It’s a punch of metal and rock with our own edge – brutal, melodic, tight, and full of energy. We’re young, but we play like we mean it.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Unpredictable. Loud. Sweaty. Luca’s in the crowd and you’ll never see a 13-year-old frontman like this anywhere else, George is a beast on drums, Ollie and Alexie keep things tight. We like to please with some covers that the crowd likes and then drop our originals in too which are pretty catchy.
Have you been to Call of the Wild before? What did you think?
Not yet, we’re just starting to get around as punters – some of us have done Bloodstock, Steelhouse, ATG, and Stonedead – but we’ve been watching and dreaming of Call of the Wild. This year we’re bringing the noise.
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Call of the Wild?
Screamed. Jumped. Dropped everything. Told everyone. Then screamed again.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Some absolute classic metal bangers. Big riffs, fast drums, filthy breakdowns, and originals like “Grief of Me” and “Blood Sea”. No filler.
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Oli Brown and the Dead Collective. Oli has been really kind and ive when we’ve seen him at other shows so we really hope we can catch his set and him. Also, really hoping to catch Black Lakes and Royal Republic. And, big shout to our friends, Jayler, they are playing Friday and are going to smash it! They are from the Midlands and a few years older than us – totally epic.
What are you working on at the moment?
Writing new songs for our EP (exclusive: just booked studio days), tightening the live set, and getting louder and heavier for summer.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
At Saltfest, Luca span around so hard he lost the stage and nearly wiped out George’s drum kit. Also, air guitar solo from a fan mid-song at Kidderminster Music Fest. Legendary.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Depends on the mood but we’re all under 16 so water before we go on stage. We’ll drink Diet Coke juice and thick milkshakes at other times; Alexie is partial to banana flavour.
