Road to Call of the Wild 2025: To Nowhere

We’re closing in on Call of the Wild and we’re going to be back for a second year! So we’re getting to know as many of the bands set to play the Trailblazer Stage in 2025 that we can pin down. To Nowhere play the Saturday.

Where are you guys from?

We normally just say Newcastle because it’s easy but we are from all over the North East.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

This lineup has been going strong for about a year and a half, maybe just over.

Where does the name of the band come from?

Well, to be honest, we were all sat in a room trying to think of different names, and an old member got annoyed and said “We’re going to get nowhere with this” and then the band made a joke of calling the band that and it just stuck. The band was almost called “Marra” but that might be too Northern.

Describe your music, what makes you unique?

Fodden (bass): Our uniqueness definitely comes from each member of the band coming from a completely different scene; I come from a punk and grunge background, Robbie from a mixture of emo and indie music, Riffshaw (lead guitarist) has a metalcore background, Brown (rhythm guitarist) has a pop punk background and our drummer, Connor, grew up with nu metal.

Robbie (vocals): I guess in a way there are a lot of different sounds and things the different want and that creates a really unique sound, with us all being so diverse in our own tastes, we pride ourselves on not having two songs that sound the same.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

Robbie: Again, with our diverse music, you never know what to expect from our set, when you think you have us dialled in to what we are like, we play a song that you didn’t expect. Or when you think we are playing a nice ballad-style song, we hit you with a heavy breakdown, not to mention our catchy hooks.

Fodden: As much as it’s a generic thing to say and I’m sure every band will say this but we put everything into our live shows, we feel every song we play, and we try to make every show something to . So far according to audience , we have done a good job.

Have you been to Call of the Wild before? What do you think?

Fodden: Unfortunately, none of us have but it’s been a bucket list thing for definitely me, I assume so for the other guys. I know my old band Tomorrow is Lost played when they were around, but I ed just after.

Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Call of the Wild?

Robbie: Whey, aye, man! That’s pure mint, that like!

Fodden: Holy shit! What the fuck? Finally!

What sort of setlist can we expect?

Like our debut EP, that you can buy etc etc, expect Violent Kicks & Dirty Sounds.

Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?

Robbie: Definitely White Tyger since we’re good friends with them and have done a show or two with them.

Fodden: Syteria! I’ve been a fan of them and known those guys for a while and somehow never caught a show, so I’m hoping to not miss their set!

What are you working on at the moment?

Since we have such a big year of gigs ahead of us, we are just trying to make the biggest impact that we possibly can. We do have some new music coming out this year that you might hear in our set wink wink.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Fodden: Wildest thing I’ve seen was when I saw Slipknot years ago and Sid jumped off the rafters of the stage and almost wiped me out. The wildest thing I’ve done, unfortunately, isn’t cool. I was playing a show, tried to look cool and put a foot up on the monitor, wanting to be a rockstar, and the monitor rolled and I fell off the front of the stage.

Robbie: I was doing a show on a stage that was like two blocks put together, and I was jumping around and part of the stage slid forward making a huge hole in the middle of the stage, luckily my girlfriend was at the front of the audience and basically held the stage together with her foot!

What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?

Fodden: I am a gym bro outside of the music side so for me it is absolutely a white Monster

Robbie: I’m boring, I don’t dabble in anything bad or too tasty before going on stage, but I will shoot honey!
