Coldplay dropped a snippet of a song that we believe is going to be their new single in the coming days, and the video currently has over 1 million views on X. Their ever-ready fan base, Coldplayers, have taken their time to express how much they’ve waited so long for a moment like this.
The British band created an atmosphere of sadness when they announced that they would soon stop recording new songs and focus only on touring. Many of their fans weren’t happy with such development, but there was nothing they could do since Coldplay has been active in the music industry since 1997. It would be selfish to ask them to keep doing what they do after giving us everything they have, even when some of us, their die-hard fans, weren’t born when they started.
The video of “First Time” which featured Chris Martin singing, in a fast-forwarded mode, with lots of people walking behind him, has received lots of engagements, most of which are of fans expressing their happiness about the fact that Coldplay has decided to bless them with one more single before they retire from recording music in 2025.
For most Coldplayers, the new snippet is a sign of one more album from Coldplay, and that alone is a reason to be extremely happy.
A fan described that Coldplay as a team has only gotten better with each album that they’ve dropped. So, from the look of things, the next, and probably the last album by the British band will be the best album that the world has ever seen from them. The fan, @WillMan Said,
“I have a running theory that every other Coldplay album since Rush of Blood is good to great actually. So, by my scientific process, we’re in for a good one!”
The British band is currently observing the last days of their 8th career tour, and the concert has been an adventurous and entertaining one altogether. The major challenge is that the scarcity of tickets has left so many fans devastated by the process it takes to get one. However, we suggest looking through an alternative ticket marketplace for Coldplay tickets.
Coldplay: “Music Of The Spheres World Tour” Track Record – 2024
The snippet of Coldplay’s new song was released on their official X page on the 7th of June, a day before their first show after a 3 month-long break from the “Music Of The Spheres” world tour. Coldplay had visited just 3 countries this year, before taking a long break, and they recorded massive success in these cities.
The British band resumed their tour in Greece, on the 8th of June, before moving to Romania, Hungary, and eventually England, where some of their favourite fans reside. Before their break, they had some of the most memorable times in the 3 countries they visited, here’s an exclusive recap.
Philippines
Coldplay organised one of the greatest shows of the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” in the Philippines. The band had been on break since November last year, so when they resumed in January, on the 19th, they weren’t weighed down with stress. They had a lot of energy to entertain their fans, and they did.
The concert started like every other Coldplay concert. It was a 2-night schedule, so the touring team had to prepare the stadium to accommodate Coldplayers, for 2 consecutive nights. Philippine Arena, where the concert was held, has a concert capacity of 55k people. The recorded attendance was over 96k for the 2 nights that the concert lasted.
Coldplay was able to incur more than $15 million from the Philippines. Most of that money came from the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” tickets purchase. Ticketmaster described the demands made by Coldplayers from that region, as “unprecedented.” The British band has also been recognized as one of the bands to record the highest concert attendance of more than 96k people in the Philippines.
For the Filipinos, encountering Coldplay was a dream come true. They have shown their happiness for the fact that Coldplay brought the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” to them. It became an emotional encounter altogether for some. Like this on YouTube, who made a very emotional comment about the event. The YouTube , @kalibapi13 said, “This is for our loved ones who have ed, and never got the opportunity to watch Coldplay live here in Manila. This one’s for you!”
Singapore
Unlike the Philippines, Singaporeans had the chance to host Coldplay for 6 nights. The concert was held at the Singapore National Stadium, which has a concert capacity of 55k people as well. Coldplay had the chance to entertain more than 320k people for the 6 nights they were there. This means that, at least, 53k people made it to the concert every night.
That’s quite a dedication coming from one of the smallest countries in the world, ranked at No. 20. The revenue they generated through ticket purchases is one to talk about as well. Coldplay reportedly incurred $43 million from Singapore alone. That is more than what they had incurred in Italy, where they also organised 6 shows.
We’ve talked about dedicated fan bases for some time now, and it’s hardly any lie when we categorise Coldplayers as some of the most dedicated in a list of 10. Especially when the “Music of the Spheres” world tour is the area of concentration.
One of the magical moments that was captured in the concert was during Coldplay’s special song performance, where Chris Martin told the crowd a little about their early beginnings. The crowd also couldn’t let go of the “falling stars confetti,” which made the sky a bit colourful, thanks to the lasers from the stage.
Coldplay surely has a way of being intimate with their fans. Safe to say, understanding their fans’ demands is one of the major weapons that they’ve used amidst the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” and it has proven effective. Who wouldn’t love a fireworks display as well?
Thailand
Thailand was Coldplay’s last stop in February before they took their 3-month break. Their concert was held for 2 days, at Rajamangala Stadium. The stadium has a concert capacity of 51k people, but Coldplay was reportedly able to pull in more than 110k people for the 2 nights that they were there.
The revenue is another thing worth discussing. Coldplay reportedly incurred approximately $17 million from Thailand alone. If they had spent 6 nights there, like they did in Singapore, then they might have incurred more than the revenue they got in Singapore.
2024 started well for the British band. But we have a feeling that the remaining countries they are yet to visit will do even better than the 3 we’ve discussed in this article. June is already a promising month. Coldplay will visit a total of 5 countries this month, and some of these countries are homes to some of the most dedicated Coldplayers.
In England for instance, where the “Music of the Spheres” album reached No. 1 after it was released, the album ended the year at No.14, and it became certified Gold after selling over 200k units.
