And in a more official way than many acts. Mötley Crüe have signed a “we won’t tour again ever” contract in front of an audience, so they can’t do what many people refer to as “a Meatloaf”. There will be one, final farewell tour kicking off in July. It will not be followed by a comeback tour or an acoustic tour that doesn’t count or anything.
ittedly, the farewell tour will run for 2 years and be highlighted by the movie version of the band’s The Dirt book. And possibly an album release. And Alice Cooper is sharing the bill. There’ll be 72 dates in the US alone before they head elsewhere in the world, too.
In other words, it’s a biggie. Kudos to the band for ensuring that fans who go won’t feel ripped off in a couple of years when they go “ah, one more tour then”. A definitive end to a definitive icon of the rock world.
Full details are available at the band’s website in this official statement.
