UK Prog / Psych band Messenger are picking up a real head of steam in rock and metal circles recently, with national press features already confirmed with Metal Hammer and Prog Magazine. Signed to acclaimed Finnish label Svart Records, they today have a new video online for their new single “Somniloquist”.
Recorded with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano (Oranssi Pazuzu, Ulver, Cathedral) their love of ambient music has been aligned beautifully with elements of rock, folk, progressive and psychedelia. The band described the new LP as a “cosmic ode to the forces of nature and the inevitable cycle of life.”
Talking of the new track, guitarist and vocalist Khaled Lowe says;
“The music video was shot using motion control time-lapse photography, as well as organic and digital special effects. Sam Edwards, the director, literally brings nature to life in. It’s almost as if the mystery, the secrecy, the very life itself that we experience from nature in our childhood seems to dissipate with time that es. This is a reminder of the archaic wisdom of the trees, of the vitality of the leaves, the wind, and the water. The dilation of time, and the movement through space (as espoused by the presence of the crystal) are also implemented to remind the viewer of the infinite nature of existence.”
