Maybe not a band we’d otherwise have featured, but it would be remiss not to highlight this tragic story. Promising 4-piece Viola Beach, an indy band from Warrington, and their manager died yesterday in a car accident in Sweden. The vehicle in which Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe, Jack Dakin and manager Craig Tarry were travelling plunged 25m from a bridge into a canal in the early hours. They were on their way from a festival appearance in Sweden to a slot in Guildford.
Obviously our thoughts go out to their family and friends. Musical divides be damned – this is a terrible tragedy.
More details and a video of the band in session can be seen on BBC News.
