Album News: Vly, Loathe, Iron Fire, Threshold, Zlatanera

Another quick roundup from bands big and small…

Vly - Tangetns & Mutations Vol 1Vly

Following the acclaimed debut album I / (Time) release in late 2015 international post-prog band Vly have released a remixes and out-takes EP entitled Tangents & Mutations Vol. 1.

Described as an “idiosyncratic collection of remixes, collaborations, experiments and out-takes for the brave and curious”, Tangents & Mutations Vol. 1 includes remixes by the band’s and collaborations with other artists such as Animals With Machinery, BLK_TAG, Janussi etc. plus unreleased material, out-takes and “soundscapes”.

The EP is available now on a “pay what you want” basis through Vly’s bandcamp page.

Loathe

Loathe are an anonymous cult of 5 – formed in an undisclosed part of the UK… said to demonstrate a ‘hive-mind’ mentality, possessing traits which are somewhat detached and robotic. The band’s debut EP, Prepare Consume Proceed, released on July 8th via SharpTone Records, is a conceptual audio representation of this arcane ‘hive-mind mentality’ which is displayed by the obscure 5.

You can stream the whole EP on YouTube and purchase it over on iTunes. Catch them on the road later this month as special guests to Carcer City.

Iron Fire - Among The DeadIron Fire

Veteran Danish Power Metallers Iron Fire will release their 8th full-length album Among the Dead on September 26 through Crime Records. The album will be available on CD, cassette, and vinyl LP formats. Want to Headbang like it’s 1999? Then Among the Dead should be your obvious choice. The new offering from Iron Fire is as old school as it gets 16 years into the millennium.  The 90s spawned a lot of power metal classics, and Among the Dead is made in the spirit of those.

Threshold

British progressive protagonists Threshold have signed a new contract with Nuclear Blast and extended their partnership after ten successful years with the label. Over that time with the label, Threshold have released three studio albums, a double live album and reissues of the whole back catalogue. Currently, the band is working on their 11th masterpiece, a new concept album that is scheduled to be released in 2017.

Zlatanera - LegerdemainZlatanera

Today one of Belfast, Northern Ireland’s most promising emerging acts announced the release of the debut album Legerdemain, set for release on 5th August 2016.

Citing influences such as Black Sabbath, Cathedral, Entombed, Clutch, Corrosion of Conformity, to name a few, the latter of which they were pleased to open for in Belfast in May 2016, the quintet have become known for their riff based, groove rock sound, surreal lyrics and immersive live shows. Not so easily pigeonholed, the band’s music consists of a variety of rock genres, which their solid hometown following have come to recognise and ire. Needless to say Zlatanera are a band to look out for and experience.
