With new release news coming in thick and fast, we just had to let you know about a few of them!
Acid Reign
It’s been a while but they’re back with arguably their finest album to date. Acid Reign will release their third full length on Dissonance this September.
Vocalist Howard Smith had this to say:
For our first album in 29 years it was vitally important that we find the right home and I feel we have. From the very first it was obvious that the Dissonance team not only had an overwhelming enthusiasm for what we have recorded but the intelligence and infrastructure to deliver.
Many involved are the same people I dealt with when curating The Apple Core Archives in 2014 which was a hassle free experience, so we are going to release a four disc retrospective Acid Reign Anthology package after the new album comes out cos I found some more old stuff and our two singles need a CD home. Who knows you may even see some vinyl reissues too! We cannot wait to unleash this beast and hit the road in of it, once it’s out it will be two years since we started writing and a year since we recorded it. No one is as keen as us for you all to hear the results. Over the next few months we’ll be drip feeding you all information, we have so many plans for really cool things that we think you are all going to love. Stay tuned.
Label head honcho Steve Beatty:
It’s great they are back with a new album and I am pleased they are on the Label, its another great addition to the roster and I’m excited about the new album. As long as they don’t cover anymore Blondie songs I’m a happy camper!!!!

Live With The Plovdiv Psychotic Symphony documents the band’s remarkable one-off performance at the Ancient Roman Theatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria alongside a full orchestra & choir, playing tracks from their debut album Psychotic Symphony as well as a selection of tracks by legendary bands. It will be available as a limited deluxe 3CD + DVD + Blu-Ray Artbook, Special Edition 3CD + DVD Digipak, Standalone Blu-Ray & Digital Album.
Mike Portnoy comments:
I’ve released several dozen live albums through the years with about a dozen different bands, but I have to say that this live release from Sons Of Apollo may indeed be the most special one of them all!! Everything was aligned that evening: an absolutely beautiful Roman amphitheatre and a perfectly gorgeous summer evening, one set of SOA material and one set of specially chosen cover songs, and to top it all off being ed by a symphony orchestra and choir… it was a magical evening for everybody in attendance and now we can share it with the rest of the world immortalised in this incredible live package.
This package will serve as a nice souvenir to capture the band’s first year on tour and should tide over all of our fans while we complete work on our sophomore studio release that will coming in Jan 2020.
Northtale
Swedish-American power metal supergroup Northtale recently signed a deal with Nuclear Blast. Now the cooperation has started to bear fruit: The band’s 13-song debut album Welcome To Paradise, is set to be released on August 2, 2019 and features artwork from renowned rock/metal artist Felipe Machado. The record was produced by Northtale themselves, whilst Jonas Kjellgren (Blacklounge Studios, Sweden) took care of mixing and mastering duties.
Guitarist/band founder Bill Hudson comments:
The artwork for »Welcome To Paradise« represents an entrance to whatever ‘paradise’ represents to each of us. With this album, we intend to introduce the band to the world, as well as to spread our message, that you can be or do whatever you want, it’s all inside your own mind. Felipe Machado did a great job capturing our ideas and bringing them into reality. The album, the music and the lyrics all seek to empower the listener and remind them that THEY are masters of their destiny and what happens in their lives.
The first single is due very soon, stay tuned!
