So this rumoured Pantera “reunion” that’s being talked about… Is it just me or does it seem a little disingenuous to class it as a reunion when there are only two original involved, even if that’s pretty much because the others are no longer with us?
On the other hand, would it be fair to class it as a tribute act when it still features half the original line-up?
Phil’s toured recently doing a Pantera-only set (which didn’t make it to Bloodstock, bloody Covid), and is the addition of Rex going to make such a show any different?

Let’s be honest, the real magic glue in that band was Dimebag. Vinnie was a legend also, but those insane guitar talents buttressed up against Anselmo’s vocals were what made Pantera stand out in their heyday. As much as Charlie Benante and Zakk Wylde (both names touted as being involved, though stories seem to be both confirming and denying this) are hugely talented in their own rights… they ain’t the Abbotts.
However. If such a package was put together and toured, would I go and see it? Yes. Yes I would. I just don’t know if I’d want to call it a reunion or a tribute.
