Drudkh are back! Three years after their beautiful All Belong to the Night, they are back with a new album called Shadow Play. It will be out on the 21st of March on Season of Mist.
Shadow Play unfolds from a realm where the boundaries between the corporeal and the ethereal are blurred.
Their latest had left an especially strong mark on me with “Windmills”. It contributed to my understanding of Ukrainian poetry and how actually important its place is within nowadays Ukraine. I am honestly surprised this is my first article about them.
As it seems to be their usual procedure, Drudkh have released a single, and its video, called “The Eve”. The label states this song “contemplates life’s fleeting beauty, traversing the delicate line between light and darkness”. The video producted by French Valnoir features beautiful visuals that instantly spoke to me. I love how they succintly allude to Ukrainian cultural elements and how the diverse black and white materials create the landscapes. As for the music itself, it is of course good but I am looking forwards to listening to the whole opus.
