Phil Anselmo-led supergroup Scour announce first ever show

Blastfest 2017We all know Phil Anselmo (and if you don’t then you really need to get out into the metal world more). Say what you will about his occasional drunken public outbursts, he’s been part of some incredibly influential acts. Add to that “Scour”, a supergroup made up of the Unscarred One himself, Derek Engemann (Cattle Decapitation), John Jarvis (Pig Destroyer), Chase Fraser (ex-Decrepit Birth) and Jesse Schobel (ex-Agoraphobic Nosebleed). It’s probably no surprise given the pedigree of the four musicians, but this is Phil’s foray into extreme metal.

The band released a self-titled EP in July which you can listen to below, but if you want to catch their first ever live show then you need to head to Norway in February next year, and ensure you have a ticket for Blastfest! Specifically, they’ll be playing on February 23rd.

Anselmo previously commented:

The Scour thing was just something that popped up – it’s something I think I can kill, I can lay it out. It’s predominantly modern-ish thrashy black metal stuff. I’m going to put my own spin on it. I don’t have to sound like your boy from Gorgoroth to get the point across – there’s other ways of singing over that style of music, and I shall employ many styles.

Blastfest already has a great bunch of bands lined up with more to be announced.
