OK, one may wonder why we’re giving this one a plug but bear with me. The 80s were one of the “good” musical decades. Metal and rock were still up there in of quality, and many of the bands who are still big today were running riot then, having started rolling in the 70s – Maiden were playing arenas, KISS were enormous, Megadeth and Metallica were releasing their early classics. And the pop music wasn’t the banal crap we were force-fed in the 90’s, so radio was still worth listening to.
In fact, on regular radio and in the charts you could still expect to hear a fair few songs that now find themselves being broadcast on the likes of Classic Rock and Planet Rock – Toto, Europe, Bon Jovi, Van Halen and so on.
Which brings us to this tour from the people who make those “NOW…” albums, which are currently well past number 100 and which, over recent years, have been (let’s be honest) utter shit due to modern pop music being… well… utter shit. So what better way to revive the brand than to take us back to them decent music was popular?
