Time to blow away that midweek misery with a few new tunes. As ever, a nice mix of style for you to get your teeth into before girding your loins for the downward slope to the weekend!
The Dead Life – “Hollow Blood”
Brighton’s heavy rock combo The Dead Life released an EP last year and this is the first video from it. Says frontman Sam Craddock:
Recording this song in the studio was physically and emotionally exhausting, and I had to drag up all the hatred and anger I’ve felt for years and turn it into something positive and cathartic.
Fierce Morgan – “Elders”
“Elders” is taken from EP Misanthropy, due out on March 18th. Front-man Owen Cousins says:
Elders is about that feeling of disapproval, that feeling of disdain you get from the generation above us. That whole “looking down your nose” thing you experience when you tell them you’re just working part-time or you’re house-sharing with a friend cos it’s much cheaper, or that you haven’t quite found that graduate job they think you should be working by now.
We’re in a land of opportunity completely saturated by people a similar age who are all equally as qualified with nothing to make them stand out, and yet the older generation can’t understand why we aren’t living life the same way they did when they were younger.
Red Skies – “New Voice”
Turning up the heavy with this track, the second to be released from Red Skies’ debut album (Iron Sun) which came out last year. Vocalist Cody Dodds said:
The title for our song New Voice has several meanings. Not only is it our first non-animated visual representation of the music featured on our latest record, Iron Sun, it is also a metaphor for our band’s attempt to be heard in the seemingly saturated music industry of today. The video itself reflects upon a duality in the mind of an individual struggling with his desire to live in an unjust society. It can be interpreted in many ways, but this was the idea we were working with. The viewer will see two completely different situations playing out the main theme with an accompanying narrative.
