Epica – “Universal Deathsquad”
Dutch symphonic metal stars Epica have released the lyric video for their first single entitled “Universal Death Squad”. The song comes from the album The Holographic Principle and is an impressive first demonstration of what fans can expect from Epica’s sound in the year 2016. Pre-orders for the album have just begun. Equilibrium – “Born To Be Epic”
Another from the NB stable, German epic metal pioneers Equilibrium will set aflame a brand new bonfire this summer with their fifth studio album. Guitarist, composer and lyricist René Berthiaume spent almost two years working on this new opus entitled, Armageddon. The result is rather dark, while retaining the bombast and folk elements of the previous records. It’s to be released on August 12th.
Sad Blood – “Heavy Petting Zoo”
After failed attempts at careers in both professional wrestling and standup comedy (due to a lack of any discernible athletic or comedic ability) George Phillips turned his hand to songwriting. He picked up a guitar and started writing songs about his failures in life and love focusing mostly his failed imaginary relationship with pop sensation Taylor Swift, but he needed a band. After attempting to recruit drummer Daniel Goldberg and bassist Krys Bascombe approximately 22 and half times, they finally relented and Sad Blood was born.
Their EP, Legion of Gloom, is out now and you can get an idea of the emo-tinged power-pop encased within below.
Pridelands – “Coalesce”
Melbourne’s Pridelands recently dropped their new single “Coalesce” and an amazing film clip to go along with it. Produced, Mixed & Mastered by Lance Prenc and Jamie Marinos, the track is available now from their bandcamp page.
The track is the first release from the four-piece hardcore outfit since their debut EP, Natives, in 2015. It marks a more refined but focused sound – hard-edged, but full to the brim with emotion and meaning. The filmclip matches that with incredible imagery, camera work and effects.
