Ironvolt are a 5-piece groove / funk metal band from Bristol, South West UK. Their line-up includes founding Aaron Miles (lead guitar and vocals), Minka Miles (lead vocals), and Lewis Weyman (rhythm guitar and backing vocals), later ed by Matt Butters (bass) and Sam Harbridge (drums).
Ironvolt formed slowly between 2015 and 2018, beginning with softer rock styles and incorporating a wide range of genres and influences into their music. During this time, they released an experimental album influenced by artists such as AC/DC, Black Stone Cherry, and Motley Crue, without a steady drummer or bassist.
Following on from this, the three founding were ed by drummer Sam and began to move in a heavier, more metal direction. This led on to the release of their first serious album, Shadow Boxing; a collection of eleven original songs with funk, metal and rock influences inspired by artists such as Soundgarden, elements of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Metallica and Queens Of The Stone Age.
After continuing to play shows around Bristol without a fixed bassist, they were finally ed by Butters in late 2017. This was followed by another steer into the realm of heavier and darker music, and soon after solidifying the band’s lineup they competed in Metal 2 The Masses, successfully making their way to the Grand Final of the competition. Ironvolt have since played shows around the UK and are currently working on a third album; music with a heavy, catchy and riff-based style reminiscent of their Shadow Boxing days and taking extra influence from artists such as The Devin Townsend Project, Leo Moracchioli, Pantera and Nick Cave and the Badseeds.
