“One More Weekend are always up for a shred… The wilder, the better!” says enthusiastic frontman Connor Dougan. Formed in 2015 in Melbourne, Australia, the band began working on Dougan’s original songs, shaping them into their current style of rock. Influenced by the Foo Fighters, The Maine and Catfish and the Bottlemen, One More Weekend are known for their heartfelt alternative sound and engaging performances.
One More Weekend’s live journey kicked off when they played their first show at Healsville’s Grind ‘n’ Groove club, after which they were asked to fill in the next night for a last-minute no-show in a battle of the bands contest. They suddenly found themselves making it through to the finals, winning a full day’s recording at Wedgetail Studios. Live shows started coming thick and fast, including spots on the Melbourne legs of the Double Lined Minority, The Beautiful Monument and The Engagement tours.
After winning Best Act in the Knox, Australia’s Big Break Festival, OMW were asked to play South Australia’s Dweebfest festival in Mount Gambier, their first trip out of their home state. The band has performed over 150 shows to date throughout Australia, including slots with Bec Sandridge and an East Coast tour ing Brisbane’s Skies Collide. Constantly developing their stage skills, audience participation features highly in One More Weekend’s live sets. “We want to connect with our audiences,” explains Dougan. “Our aim is not just for them to feel a part of the show but in fact to have an experience. That’s the end goal.”
Amongst all this, the band completed the tracking, mixing and mastering for their 2017 debut album We Used To…. Engineered and mixed by legendary producer David Carr (Kisschasy, Antiskeptic) at Rangemaster Studios and mastered at Edensound Mastering, the album scored them a worldwide licensing and marketing deal with Sliptrick Records in Europe.
Armed with a recently purchased tour bus (named Mr. Flibble) and three completed videos, the band are currently working on their follow up album at Rangemaster and are about to be announced as the for Kids in Control on their East Coast Australian tour.
2020 will see OMW release new songs and tour throughout Australia. “We have a ion for getting reckless and having fun,” says Dougan. “We are always up for an adventure!”
