In the runup to their second UK tour (with act Bowling For Soup somehow playing after them – I can’t figure that out either), Not Ur Girlfrenz continue to prove that they can’t be pigeonholed. Their own songs may be bubblegum punk rock, but drummer Maren Alford has already rocked a version of Slipknot’s “Unsainted” and now they’re showing their emo colours (which are… well… black) with this cover of My Chemical Romance’s “I’m Not OK”.
Liv Haynes (vocal & guitar) explains the reason now was the right time for this track:
We’ve been playing this cover live for about a year now and always get such a great response with the fans… So we thought why not record a version in the studio? With My Chemical Romance getting back together after a 6-year hiatus it just seemed like the perfect time to recreate one of our favourite songs by one of our biggest musical inspirations.
