Alice Cooper releases “oddest song I’ve ever done”

And he’s not wrong. The official words below, but I’ve given it a couple of listens myself and I’m loving it. The bright tones and vocal style immediately hark back to the 70s and the era that Alice’s forthcoming album is celebrating. The riff is bright, cheesy and catchy. The lyrics are alternately bright and dark. And the video looks like Monty Python after a Friday 13th marathon.

“Our Love Will Change The World” is a departure from the rest of the album – innocent and hopeful melodies and joyous up-beat tempo and an overall happy atmosphere. But it’s not all it seems. Says Alice:

I think “Our Love Will Change The World” is one of the oddest songs I’ve ever done and it was one that came to us by somebody else, another Detroit writer. And it was so strange, because it was happy and what it was saying was anything but happy – it was simply a great juxtaposition. And I got it immediately and said “okay, this is going to be great”. The music saying one thing and the lyrics saying something else, I love that song. It is totally different from anything else on the album.

Detroit Stories, Alice’s new album released Feb 26th on earMUSIC, is a celebration of the sound and spirit of the Golden Era of Detroit rock.
