Video Roundup: Rapscallion / Aythis / Venomous / The Sweet / Devils Teeth / Escape The Fate

Been a while since I had a chance to rattle one of these off, so hopefully I’ve curated a top-notch half dozen to make it up to you. It’s never easy. We had over fifty new ones drop into our mailbox yesterday.

Rapscallion

“Rapscallion are back with another new single. You guys dug the last one, so hey, maybe you’ll find something here too.” Indeed. We did and we do. Who can’t love a rock song about having a cuppa?

All the jolly best.

Aythis

If this one doesn’t relax you (at least as much as a cup of tea) then nothing will. The haunting, ethereal tones of Netherlands’ Aythis will wash right over you via the new single “Secrets”.

The song talks about the mysteries of the world and what it evokes in you on a personal level. This is a recurrent theme in the new album as I’ve always been intrigued by unexplained phenomena. In these difficult times I think it’s even more important to be ed by the beauty and the mysteries of nature. The video is self-made, it is surely not perfect but I’m really happy about how it turned out. I think it represents the song really well.

New album Secrets From Below is out on April 2nd and can be pre-ordered now.

Venomous

In the mood for something darker? Brazil’s Venomous have just signed with Brutal Records and released their EP Tribus recently, which you can buy / stream from just about anywhere. It’s a nice bit of melodeath mixed with a hint of folk. Here’s a great video for the song “Eerie Land” taken from it.

The Sweet

The Sweet (yes, that one – you can’t keep a good legend down) featuring original guitarist Andy Scott, have released their new single “Set Me Free”. the new single is taken from the band’s new lockdown album Isolation Boulevard which is available on digital and vinyl. The CD is available to pre-order.

Isolation Boulevard features all the Sweet’s classic hit singles and was recorded with the new line-up during lockdowns between September and October 2020.

Devils Teeth

What would you get if Ennio Morricone was let loose with a rock band? I reckon it wouldn’t be far off “Ride Of The Devils Teeth” which was released as a single yesterday. It’s off their album, La leggenda di Chong Li (out digitally + physically on April 2 via Triple Eye Industries).

Escape The Fate

Celebrated, genre-redefining rock band Escape The Fate have dropped “Unbreakable”, from their highly anticipated seventh studio album Chemical Warfare, due April 16 via Better Noise Music. With an infectious chorus about resilience, the track, accompanied by an epic animated lyric video from Toon53 Productions, continues the group’s momentum of high-energy, empowering releases leading up to the full LP.
