Brazilian melodeath outfit Erudica releases new single, “Echoes of Desolation”

In their new single, the band Erudica “reinforces the weight of melodic death metal” against human greed.

Brazilian band Erudica, the newest revelation in melodeath from Porto Velho, Rondônia, has just released their second single, “Echoes Of Desolation”, on all digital platforms. After the impact of their debut single/video clip, “Gaia”, the band returns with an even more ferocious and forceful sound.

Formed in 2020 by the mesmerizing vocalist Caroline Ferreira and the talented guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Patrik Correa, the duo decided to dive headfirst into the classic melodeath/thrash sound, with strong influences from bands like Arch Enemy and The Agonist, for example. In this new single, the duo leaves aside the operatic and symphonic influences of their first release and adopts a more aggressive approach, full of robust, brutal and lacerating guitar riffs, but no less melodic and powerful.

In “Echoes Of Desolation”, Caroline Ferreira demonstrates her incredible vocal range, pouring out exuberant rage through ferocious gutturals, while addressing a profound theme that portrays the final requiem of life, that is, a sentence of humanity suffering at the hands of those who should protect and guide it. “That so-called greed! We reap what we sow, in this case, our total destruction and annihilation by our own actions”, comments Caroline.

“For this new single, we decided to bet on the raw energy and the heavy weight of the guitars, with pulsating drums. We left aside the beautiful melodies for a while to focus on more direct and violent ones”, explains Patrik Correa.

Erudica’s lyrics explore the terrifying consequences of human greed and the incessant fight against the dehumanizing forces of systemic oppression. Each song is a visceral narrative, mixing rage and hope in a powerful way, deeply touching listeners.

The singles “Gaia” and “Echoes Of Desolation” will be part of the band’s debut EP, also titled Gaia, scheduled for release later this year.
