Raum Kingdom are an Irish four-piece who’ve recently released a self-titled 5-track EP. They fall into the post-metal, doom and maybe sludge genres.
This is a long, slow, heavy release with some unusual tracks on it, most notably the virtually spoken (well, shouted) word “Cross Reference”.
It’s a far step from the much more eerie nature of the other four songs, with their mixed and conflicting overlaid vocals wrapped around incredibly heavy riffs. This is music to shake foundations to, from a band that certainly doesn’t seem afraid to mix it up a bit.
While a little on the slow and ponderous side for this particular listener, there’s definitely an audience for this style of music and I really think they’ll like it.
