Review: Patrick Craig – True Story

Patrick Craig - True Story

[avatar =”Mark” size=”50″ align=”left” /]There’s a surge of hope colliding with misery when it comes to Patrick Craig’s honed music. The English singer/songwriter, clashes with optimism at an almighty speed, placing his cut throat lyrics on the line. And his true artistry comes from his gifted mind, a mind that could be ticking like a time-bomb.

Music is a great remedy. A source of happiness. It puts you back on the rails, it pulverises the hopelessness and takes your life on its good side for a while. And Craig is a deliverer of atmospheric heart-pullers that will expose your emotions and hidden tears. It really is that emotive, bathed in acoustic melody.

The record has been named True Story. And it does what it says, it tells tales of Craig’s woes, his fight for an existence of clarity. He needs to be heard, and he pays homage to musicians like Frank Turner.Lyrically the album is immaculate. A well-crafted opus that sparks truth. It flows with fluency, it shields off from clichés, it truly reacts to harmony. And Craig is a new talent on the block, an entertainer and song-writing extraordinaire.

His debut album begins with “True Story” which you can stream below. The acoustic guitar is played with authority and melody and Craig sings about a girl that’s falling down, drowned in anguish. “Words Unspoken” starts with an acoustic blend. Craig sings with vigour and intent, describing that girl again. His voice rises as he sings about the girl marked by scars. “Begin Again” adds a little more instrumental bite to the album. There’s a great sequence of electric guitar triggered in the background. “Hold My Jacket” opens with a subtle vibe until the acoustics gain pace. Craig sings about a girl that is wishes to depart.

Patrick Craig is a talented individual that will surely hit monumental strides. His music is sombre, but lyrically beautiful. Here’s to a golden future.

True Story is released on the 29th April via Under The Bridge Records. You can preorder the album here.
