Album Review: Hepatit-X – Soldiers and Supervisors

I can’t tell you much about Hepatit-X other than that they’re from Norway, they’ve been a unit since 2016 and they play rock ‘n’ roll! Soldiers and Supervisors came out on April 13th and it’s a blinding bit of music. Bouncy, catchy and fun.

Lounging somewhere between punk and stoner in of attitude – kind of pissed off yet laid back about it – the five tracks here will have you nodding along in no time. The only act I can think of who kind of sound the same also come from Norway, funnily enough: Turbonegro. Maybe it’s just a Norwegian thing. “I’m so mad and want to shout and then, just, you know… chill out”.

The music varies from the more rowdy “Bad Oslo” to the hugely blues-oriented “Exxxtra Azzbergh”. Or at least the first half of the track is, before the second kicks in and it’s belting. So OK, this one’s more “chill out then go mental” than the other way around, but rates as my pick from the album as a result.

I’m starting to realise there’s a fair bit in Norway that I need to explore, certainly musically. Hepatit-X have opened my eyes and ears to a new scene.
