The long-awaited sequel to 2013’s self-titled album finally sees the light of day and offers the perfect soundtrack to what may well be the end of the world as we know it. The album was recorded in Stockholm by Jonsson at Dark Prod Studios, mixed at Studio Humbucker by Robert Pehrsson (Runemagick, Death Breath ) and mastered by Magnus Lindberg Productions.

Opener “Orog Nuur” tears through like unforgiving fog, the end result being coming face to face with the shocking reintroduction to vocalist’s Urskogr piercing shrill once again. Powerful drums from newest member Peter Stjärnvind, a.k.a Fast Feet Pete (Entombed, Nifelheim, Merciless, Unanimated, Murder Squad, VOJD) invoke an eerie melody with some wonderfully woeful vocals in the form of “Land of Darkness”. This flows into the longest track on the album – the doom-ladened “Rivers of Reserved”
A battlecry erupts through the next track, “Through the Gates”, before another onslaught takes place with a second seven-plus minute outing “Chthonic”. This epic piece leads into my personal favourite, the penultimate NWOBHM fest “At the Mountains Edge”.

The send-off for the album is the ritualistic feeling “Av Aska” which is mainly composed of spoken word, whispers and a creepy as hell soundscape. I particularly enjoyed and also fully appreciated the slow finish to the album and it fitted the overall tone and mood of the whole.
A melting pot of despair, hopelessness, and fury.
