Well, this is one angry album. Fierce Cult straddle the ground between thrash and death metal, but with a larger boot on the “thrash” foot. Fast, heavy and rather brutal overall Where Humanity Ends makes for an abrasive hour or so’s listening.
There are eleven songs (plus a brief intro track), each of which blends some pretty technical guitar work with a simple battery of drums and harsh vocals designed to push forward the band’s viewpoint that the world is, well, a bit shit. And it’s our fault. The first track proper, “One Shot, One Death” is embedded below and it’s fairly typical of the whole album. Frenetic thrash, heavy breaks and angry lyrics. It’s not the highlight, though. “Blood” appears towards the end of Where Humanity Ends and is probably the overall fastest song of the lot… and it’s incredible. If this doesn’t create dancefloor carnage then the world doesn’t deserve live music any more.

Of the slower tracks, “Share My Death” probably tops the pile. Some simple chugging riffs and great headbanging moments make it so damn easy to get wrapped up in.
This isn’t the most complex album, or anything massively groundbreaking. But it does what it’s set out to do – get blood pumping and throats roaring, necks rattling and fists in the air. If you need something angry in your musical life, this could be it.
