Sir Reg are an interesting Irish / Swedish hybrid, the result of Brendan Sheehy travelling from Dublin to the land of Volvo with the aim of teaching them how to rock Celtic-style. And now, six albums on, we can pretty much say he managed it.
Crammed full of blistering fast riffage, flutes, and drum beats, The Kings of Sweet Feck All would give any thrash album a run for its money in of pace… only with a circle pit full of people dancing jigs rather than headbanging. Every single song is designed to get the heart and feet pumping, and each one is perfect singalong material. OK, “Thank You For Your Lies” is your required (angry) ballad that comes in at the midpoint. Because your dancing muscles will need a rest after the likes of “Tosspot City” and “Open the Pubs”.
“The Coming Regime” is a little different, too. While still being frustratingly catchy, it has more of a pop/punk than Celtic punk sound to it, mixed with a bit of 80s pop. And maybe just the tiniest inklings of Pulp’s “Common People”. Oh, it still works, it just stands out as being comparatively oddball.

“Sober Up To Drink” and recent single “Kick Out The Scum” get us back on familiar ground. Feet tapping, throat sore and well into the final half of the album. After a couple more belters, the album / evening ends with a perfect number: “The Story’s Been Told”. Raise your glasses in air, sway from side to side and sing along while trying not to spill your beer all over the person next to you.
The songs vary in tone from party monsters to social commentary, but every single one will reach through your ear-holes and latch onto whatever parts of your brain react to bouncy music. Eleven songs of Irish charm that haven’t been diluted in the slightest by their source being the frozen wilds of Sabaton-land.
