Eindhoven-Based Sisters of Suffocation return with a concept album which tells tales about a mutilated world, and how people might endure that world simply titled Eradication.
The album wastes absolutely no time with the destructive and blistering pace of “Buried in the Crowd” which has a real Cattle Decapitation feel to it, this is followed up by the visceral “Die Anyway” and is my highlight track of the album for it’s level of foreboding embedded in its fury. Full on death metal mode is then switched on as too is the ringing bass for “Instinct-Extinct”
The album then completely changes pace with albeit for a brief moment and “Pay My Dues” demonstrates just how effortlessly Sisters Of Suffocation can transition into a different style with introducing new tones & paired with “Being Prey” is a great combination.
Eradication forges on with the solo laden “Cannibal Soulmate” into the crushing notes of “Returning in a Cauldron” with no sign of rest bite as tracks such as “Hide in Plain Sight” and “Thick Red Meat” continue to provide the album with it’s sense of turmoil playing into its concept really well.
“The Rich Will Never Die” works well as a largely instrumental piece with clean vocals before another twist in the form of incredibly short “Elevation” serving as a great introductory piece to “How They Bleed” which has the combination of soft and harsh vocals.
Not to lose sight of the heaviness that has been unloaded on the listener “From Downfall” provides another destructive earworm, as too does “Cordon Sanitaire” there is time for one final unrelenting offering which “The Chosen One” is only too happy to oblige before the albums “Outerlude” delivers the last hope for mankind.
