Dead Label – The Black Heart, London (3rd October 2017)

When I was invited along to an exclusive showcase at The Black Heart in Camden by heavy metal three piece Irish band Dead Label, I jumped at the chance. Firstly, I had somehow never been to The Black Heart for a gig, but I had also heard great things about Dead Label. They are somewhat of a favourite at Moshville Times. So Katie Frost (photographer) and I went to check it out.

The show started at 9pm, with Danny Hall on guitar, Claire Percival on drums and Dan O’Grady, the lead vocalist and bassist, wasting no time in letting the audience know this was going to be a loud, gritty metal performance. They opened with “Deadweight”, followed by “Salvation in Sacrifice” and “Are You Ready to Kill”. They went on to play a handful of other face-melting heavy tracks, with the crowd really jumping around and head banging along.

Towards the end of the night they covered Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” but with their own twist on it. This went down very well with the audience; lots of horns in the air.

Ending the show with “Pure Chaos”, a heavy, high energy song with powerful riffs, the video was released in March 2017.

In a recent interview with Moshville Times, Claire told us they are currently working on new material, so hopefully there will be a new album in 2018! Their current albums, Sense of Slaughter and Throne of Bones can be found on Spotify.
