For those who don’t know who Leo and Frog Leap are, then you’re missing out on a treat. We’ve featured several of Leo’s cover tracks, for which he’s famed, over the years and with almost 3 million YouTube subscribers, he must be doing something right. While the “band” have played live before, tonight’s show was their first ever live headline show on UK soil (take that, London) and the Classic Grand was rammed.
First off I was a bit nervous going into this gig because I was unsure how well it would translate from YouTube to the stage, but man I was blown away. Full of non-stop high energy and constantly out-doing himself, Leo sure left his mark in Glasgow and it will not soon be forgotten. Especially for one fan (not me!) who made it on stage during “Heathens”.
There was never a dull moment (besides the lighting, at least as far as my phone’s camera was concerned – otherwise the lighting was rocking) from the second the Frog Leap guys took to the stage. Everything from the audience hyping to the music, it was a party and everyone was invited. Personally I’m so proud of Leo managing to pull this off, having been a fan for years it’s amazing to watch that kind of progress selling out a venue like Classic Grand!
Musicianship was spot on, though I confess I can’t name the band . They deserve full credit for making the show what it was, though. While the bulk of the recorded music is done by the multi-talented Leo, a live show can’t be put on with similarly gifted colleagues and they stepped up to the challenge in of both belting the tunes of of their instruments and having the perfect attitude. This was a fun night, and they looked like they enjoyed it as much as we did. Leo’s smile is a permanent feature – the Joker would be jealous – and his band mates looked similarly overjoyed to be with us.
I think I can speak for all of Moshville Times when I say that I hope Frog Leap make a return to Glasgow very soon.
Now let’s take a moment to appreciate the set list:

Yeah, it was an awesome night…. I’m at the opposite end of the age range from you ( knocking 60) and was taken aback by the sight of the pit getting down to ghostbusters! Looking forward to the next one!
Hey Eck – I’m right between you and Aidan (who wrote the review), being mid 40s. This is one of the gigs I was most looking forward to this year, but had to miss it. Aidan will never let me forget it! Hope they’re back soon and I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
I was there (all the way from Teesside) and, boy, was it worth the trip!!
I think there should also be a mention for the band, too.
I thought they were excellent, and set the evening up well.
Although I was hoping for “Jonny Be Goode”, the set list was excellent, and, man, can those blokes play?!!!!!
I got home at 0130, and my ears were still ringing at five the next evening!!
A superb night!

Glad you enjoyed the trip and it sounds like it was a brilliant night. I was supposed to be there, but Aidan had to tackle the gig on his own as I had some family matters come up a the last minute. To say “gutted” is an understatement, but I’m hoping the guys are back again sometime. Given the success of this and the London gig I’d assume we’ll see them again!
