Livestream Review: Ministry – Industrial Strength

After having to regrettably cancel a multi-country tour this autumn due to unforeseen circumstances Ministry present Industrial Strength, a special streaming event available in more than 30 countries on a one time only custom stage.

The almost presidential intro had a banner of for Ukraine, but from the moment they entered the stage Ministry appeared to be all business. That was until the first track ended, and in every interlude between songs for the entire evening vocalist Al Jourgensen’s demeanour completely changed into a happy and humble human being. This translated very well through the screen at what was a very intimate setting. Ministry continued to unload hit after hit such as “Deity” and “N.W.O” with a great cover of Black Sabbath’s “Supernaut” thrown in for good measure.

There was a short period also served up as a tribute to musicians who had ed away, which Al spoke about when coming back onstage. He acknowledged their loss, but at the same time ensured they were given credit for influencing the band both personally and professionally.

For the final track, “Search & Destroy”, the band were ed onstage by Billy Morrison and honestly I did have quite the fanboy moment! This perfectly ended what had been a very energetic show, a show which had something for every generation of Ministry fans.

Front man and creator of Al Jourgensen says:

We never intended for Cleveland with NIN to be our last show this year. Due to circumstances beyond our control we had to cancel Europe but we didn’t want to end 2022 without one last show, and this will be one for the books.

A well polished digital rallying cry.
