Arcade Fortress, a band formed of Gavin Connolly (vocals/guitar) and Richard Fox (bass), released their new single, “Uppercut”, on the 2nd of April 2021. The song, dedicated to the athletes of Pembroke & Dock Amateur Boxing Club, is about overcoming daily challenges in order to achieve your dreams. The club is run by inspirational local hero and chairman of Great Britain Disability Boxing, Christopher Mcewan. You can see Christopher tell us a bit more about the club on Parasport Official’s facebook page and find out more about the club itself on their own page.
Chris and I have been friends since 1996 when we served in the RAF together. I’ve been blown away by the work he does at the boxing club for the local community and by the drive and determination of the club . I spoke to Richard about it and we thought it would be a nice idea to write a fitting tribute song that the club could train to, walk into the ring to and be proud of. – Gavin Connolly
The track itself is a hi-octane hard rock number with a positive message as mentioned above. If every boxing round was as frenetic, most fights wouldn’t get beyond the third… the boxers would collapse from exhaustion!
