Another band from the huge Australian scene, My Kind of Chaos are a rock act from sunny/hail-battered Brisbane (depends on time of day). They dropped us a quick email asking us to check them out, so we did!
Their most recent release is January’s “Calm Down Karen” but they also have an album out called The Monster Stirs. While the longer release is more mainstream rock with an edge of pop-punk, the single is a very different beast. With a sound more akin to classic punk acts, including the nasal Cockney vocals, “Calm Down Karen” is a bouncy, tongue-in-cheek tirade against… well, you can probably guess.

The lyrics are an all-out tirade and the music matches them. It’s a full-on two minute blast or screachy guitars and belted rhythms which you can still sing along to. With 22,000 listens on Spotify as well, it seems it’s probably already fairly well known on their home territory at least.
I did give the album a couple of listens as well. It’s the kind of rock which suits so many occasions, from bopping at a gig to tapping your hand on the steering wheel when you’re driving (“Down the River” and “Stop Running” in particular).
