As we head towards their SOPHIE stage debut at Bloodstock in a few weeks, Seething Akira remind us of the imminent release of Dysfunctional Wonderland (Sept 3rd) with another single, “The Fallen”.
This is a fairly short track, and a lot less “dancey” than I’m used to from Seething Akira. Dare I say it, a little radio friendly? It still has the trademark vocals and a belter of a beat, but the metal side of their hybrid identity is definitely to the fore in this one. If there’s a song that’ll sneakily get the mainstream metal militia listening to them before being exposed to their more crossover material, then this is it.
“The Fallen” describes hitting an emotional low point, trying so hard to convince yourself it’s rock bottom, only to find yourself falling further and further into the dark corners of your mind. When all hope is lost, you’re alone, where only others can pull you back from the abyss.
