Single Review: The Miser – House On The Hill

The former Death and the Miser have made a deal with the devil and now under the new condensed guise of The Miser. The combined effort take their iration of B-movie horror films and release “House On The Hill” from their EP – due for release in early 2023. The song focuses around themes of mental health, horror and loss and follows one man’s struggles with their own mind. The dark and eerie vibe of the music video also pays homage to cult classics.

The track is fast paced and loaded with riffs. Vocally and lyrically it’s very reminiscent of early Sabbath with its subject matter, but the almost urgent way it’s delivered is like it’s happening right at this very moment and you are powerless to stop it. The combination of this and the tones in which the music is delivered makes the whole very intoxicating and incredibly nostalgic. It has the ability to make the hairs on your neck stand up.

A 70’s mist-fuelled earworm.
