Luke Morley has just released his brand-new single Snakeskin Parachute, along with an accompanying video. The up-tempo track is taken from his solo album Walking On Water, due out on August 1st.
Known to many as the lead guitarist, songwriter and producer for British rock legends Thunder, Luke has been a key part of the band’s success over the last 35 years.
Walking On Water is Luke’s third solo album, following last year’s Songs From The Blue Room, which saw impressive chart success, including hitting #1 on the Official Indie Breaker Albums Chart.
Written and recorded during Thunder’s current hiatus while frontman Danny Bowes continues his recovery from a stroke suffered in 2022, it’s a record that might not have happened otherwise.
Speaking about the single Luke explains:
This was a random title I’d written down a few years ago. I liked the bizarre combination of the two words,” Luke explains. “I had no idea what it meant until I started writing this tune. I guess ‘Snakeskin’ is a metaphor for my musical past and the ‘Parachute’ is me trying to convince myself that if my solo records don’t go down too well, I could always eject and land softly back where I was in my heavy rock comfort zone!
I’m very proud of being the guitar player in Thunder and I always will be but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to try other things!
